Notes:
You must submit a separate application for each course that you are potentially interested in.
Courses meet once per week in person. Attendance is required for the entire duration of the class.
See Schedule of Classes for day/time/room/instructor.
As part of the course, we will place you at a local school to visit once per week (~2.5-3.5 h per visit) for a total of 20 hours over the quarter.
You do not need a car to participate. All schools are either within walking or one bus ride from campus.
To visit schools, you must provide evidence of being free of active tuberculosis. A negative TB test or TB risk assessment or chest x-ray (if test is positive) must be provided prior to visiting the schools. More info will be provided upon acceptance into the course.
To know when planning your schedule (classes, work, other commitments):
- Schools are typically open within the range of 8:00 – 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with exact hours varying by school and teacher.
- Ideally, you should have at least one 4-5 h block of time free each week to visit a school during school hours, allowing for the ~3 hours at the school plus travel to and from the site.
- Morning blocks before noon or 1 p.m. are best, if possible. Afternoon time slots require being free beginning no later than noon.
